We're proud to share that Cavall Labs founder Rajdeep “Ron” Sarma has been named an Innovation Commercialization Fellow for the 2026–27 cohort awarded by Carnegie Mellon University's Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship.
The Innovation Commercialization Fellowship is a highly competitive, yearlong initiative aimed at accelerating the path from university research to real-world commercialization. It supports graduate students, postdocs, professors, and research personnel who work directly with faculty to translate scientific work into startups. Fellows receive $50K in funding from the Swartz Center and another $50K in matching funds from additional sources, totaling $100K. The program also provides dedicated workshops and hands-on mentoring from Entrepreneurs-in-Residence as they build their ventures. Since 2015, the program has awarded more than 60 fellowships to CMU innovators.
For Ron, the fellowship is a vote of confidence in the work he and the Cavall team have been building around ALOE, our computational engine for predicting the thermodynamic properties of redox-active molecules. It also provides dedicated support as we move from CMU research toward a fully commercialized product.
We're grateful to the Swartz Center for the recognition and excited for what the year ahead holds for Cavall.
